Back home

Hii~
So I'm back home at Pennsylvania.
Flight back here was on time and was kinda bumpy, I think it's due to the weather back here at Pennsylvania.
So Khang Yin came with Chris to pick me up from the airport.
Poor boys had been waiting for at least an hour for me.
We wanted to meet up with Zu Yeen and the rest of the gang for dinner.
Zu came back from New York today too.But our flight was an hour plus different.
The rest was having Malaysian food (Sun Penang) but Khang Yin and Chris wanted to have some Taiwanese (Rose Tea Cafe) food, which was just opposite of the Malaysian food.
Zu came to meet us for a while and then left with the rest.
Headed home right after dinner.
I kinda forgot about my new camera, until I sat down and saw the opened box(my boyfriend opens all my packages -_-) and I shrieked a little. ^______^Y
So here is my new camera~~~

So pretty and cute right???
It's small and compact too!!!
Look at that lame,ugly Canon.
I was taking this picture with my phone and Khang Yin was behind me saying,"That black camera is damn ugly."
-____-
Which is why I sold it.
See,compared them both on their sides.
The Olympus is obviously slimmer.
`Nuff said!
If let you choose, you also will pick the Olympus la.

I love how this camera has so many functions.
At first I thought it doesn't have the functions of a DSLR camera, eg: Aperture setting, Shutter speed setting, etc.
But then I browsed around its functions and voila! It does have those features.
Here are some sample pictures of the famous Olympus Pen series features:

I will be using my precious Rilakkuma as my model.
This is the Pop Art effect.
Soft Focus
Grainy Film
Pin hole
Diorama
Dramatic Tone.
This kinda makes Rilakkuma looks dirty.

These are just some of the many features of the Olympus E-PM1 Pen Mini.
I would encourage amateur photographers to start experimenting with this camera before buying a high end $5000 DSLR camera.
Also this camera is strongly encouraged for people who are too lazy to Photoshop their pictures, but still want beautiful effects on their cameras.

Okay time to go to bed I guess.
Byes!

Last night in Boston

So today my sister and I made sushi.
Well,I made them first because I was too bored at home.
My sister left work early to "spend time making sushi with me."
It's my last night here at Boston.
Can't believe I've been here for 8 days already.
Sigh, flight is at 4ish pm tomorrow, I hope it doesn't get delayed or canceled due to the weather.
Fingers crossed!!
These are some of the sushis I made before my sister got home.
I sent her this picture and she texted back "You already started making them?I thought we were gonna make them together???"
LOL.
She came home and saw my sushis and instantly gobbled down a couple of them.
She was STARVING.
And then she complained why are my sushis so small?
So I told her to wrap her own.
Taught her how to wrap for 1 minute and left her in the kitchen while I continued watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Then she yelled from the kitchen, "Aren't we supposed to spend time together????"
The comparison of our sushis.
I swear to God, her sushi was humongous.
This picture does no justice and made me look like a stingy sushi maker.

Well I enjoyed my short stay here and I definitely will miss my sister.
She laughs at everything I say, making me feel like I'm the funniest person on earth.
I will also definitely miss the two fatties.

Beans
&
Frank.
Aren't they the fattest cats?
Beans and Frank are brothers, my brother in law,Bob adopted them when they were kitties.
He used to have 3 cats, but Sam died of cancer.Yes cats can get cancer too.
These cats have been entertaining me each time I come visit, especially Frank,he's my bff.
Beans is socially awkward and runs away when you approach him, unless he's hungry and thirsty.
He drinks from the bath tub faucet like the picture above.
He can be really funny at times too.
That's his hint of wanting someone to turn the tap on for him to drink.
And Frank,he's like an attention whore.
He follows me wherever I go(or so I thought).
Look at him invading my bed.
He sleeps 22hours a day.
We did not put him in there,we came out and saw him relaxing in that box.
Well I guess I should stop now and go to bed.
I have a flight to catch tomorrow.

Boston so far...

Been a laid back week here at Boston. Visiting my sister has always been like this. Every summer and winter break I will come visit my sister for a while. I would visit my brother and his family too, since I miss my cheeky niece, Audrey, but Texas is way too far and the flight tickets are not cheap.
So I haven't been out a lot since my sister has to go to work, plus, it is way too cold and windy to step foot outside.
So, the usual, I would stay home and prepare dinner for her and my brother in law Bob.
My sister isn't a great cook at Chinese cuisines or home cooked food.
But we did go out sometimes to eat.
I've had lobster and crab rolls.
Yummy combo (lobster + crab meat) roll from Boston Chowda
This thing cost about $20++.

I've had my yummy dim sum too. I've always missed the noisy chinese restaurant environment on Sunday mornings.
It is great to get up before noon on a Sunday to have breakfast with your family. I miss all these little things that matters.
This is me and my sister very excited and happy at Hei La Moon.
Part of our dim sums.
We definitely had more than this.
Didn't get to take a picture of everything because we were busy chomping down the food.

This is Bob and he loves dim sum too.
Check out the cart lady in the back.
This is typical dim sum restaurant for you.
Love it!

So today is a public holiday. It is Martin Luther King day and my sister got a day off. Unfortunately my brother in law does not. At about 12+ pm, my sister came busting into my room to wake me up.
She does that all the time.
Amidst still dreaming, I heard her saying she wanted to go to Chinatown to pick up some groceries to make sushi.
I was like.... ohhhh.. because that means I am the one who has to make the sushi.
Remember, oriental cuisine is not her expertise?
We headed to Chinatown and boy was it cold today. Halfway buying groceries we decided we will just make sushi tomorrow and have some Pho instead.
Best decision ever made and we had the best Pho tonight.
Rare beef small-sized Pho at Pho Pasteur.
My sister and I both ordered the small Pho and it is not very small, I swear.
We saw an elderly couple sitting a few tables away from us and they ordered the LARGE one.
And they finished everything.

The best part of today is....
菠蘿包 and 蛋撻!
God knows how much I love pastries.
A little thing you should know about myself,
I LOVE BREAD.
And everything that is associated to carbs.
These are for tomorrow's breakfast.

And also.....
Do you know what are these?
Sausage buns!!!!
I bought 10 of these.
I'm crazy I know.
I'm planning on bringing them back on Wednesday but I guess I'll have to re-stock them.
Why?
Because I already had one of these babies right after dinner.
I can't resist the temptation!

Can't believe I've been here for about a week.
I've been telling my sister that winter is very late this time.
Usually during winter breaks when I come visit, there would be snowstorms and lots of snow already.
But this time, when I just got here (not including these past 3 days), it was still warm, as in it was in the 40s Fahrenheit.
And guess what...
This is the view from my room window.
If you can't tell,it is snowing.
Look at the street and that car covered in snow.
This just happened 2 hours ago.
What a sudden surprise.

Well alright, I think that's all for now.
I apologize for the shitty picture quality. These pictures are taken from my phone. The grids you see are actually the window nets.I own a Samsung Galaxy and it takes great pictures,so it's not the picture quality that is THAT bad that it has grids on the pictures.
I have a camera...in fact actually I have cameraS.
I had a DSLR, have a semi-pro camera,and also another new semi-pro camera.
I sold my DSLR because:
  1. It is too bulky and heavy to carry it around.
  2. I may be a Communications Media student, but I don't think I wanna explore the photography world no more
  3. I don't want a DSLR anymore
So I bought a Canon semi-pro camera and I didn't bring it together with me because(oh boy here it comes again):

  1. I left it at home so that my boyfriend can use it just in case he needs to take pictures of stuff he wants to sell off on eBay.
  2. I sold it,again. Just a couple of days ago.
  3. I looked at it and I realized it's ugly.
  4. It uses AA batteries instead of the L-Ion battery. What the hell? Who still uses AA batteries?
  5. I bought it because my brother told me it was a great deal at that time at Target
  6. It's LAME!
I barely even used the camera yet and I've already sold it. And just a couple of days ago, I fell in love with the Olympus E-PM1.
It is cute,it is light and it takes great pictures!
So I bought a white one online and it was sent back to my place at home.
Well I would want them to send it over here to Boston, but you know, just in case they don't deliver in time.
But to my surprise, I bought it on Thursday and it arrived on Saturday.
Khang Yin(my boyfriend) was very impressed with the camera too.
So I promise, my blog will be filled with better quality pictures in the future.
PROMISE!

Hello there.
Well I think this is like the 5th or 6th blog I ever created since I started blogging years back.
I used to love to blog but then I always lose the mojo to blog.
So anyhow, let me begin with the introduction.

Name is Apple Tan. I go by Apple. If you wanna know why my name is so weird/funny/special, ask my mother. I am currently pursuing my Communications Media degree in the United States. In a rural town of Pennsylvania to be specific.
Honestly,I'm really bad at introducing myself. So let's just go with the flow.

So right now I'm having Winter break and I just arrived Boston today to visit my sister. I'll be here for a week and then school starts on the 23rd, which I also know is Chinese New Year. Sigh.
It's been 3 years since I celebrated Chinese New Year with my family. Sad.

So yeah,I'll try to update this blog with wonderful pictures and adventures (the latter will be a lie because I live in a very kampung area). But I'll try la.

Oh by the way! Happy 2012! Hope it's a better and smooth year ahead.
